Everything Old is New Again

W Burshtan, John, (filmmaker). Kanopy (Firm) (Added Author).

Summary: The old cliche, "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue," holds true as the theme of this program that takes us on a trip down memory lane. Elaine Hull, a historian with Elitch Gardens, provides the story of its magnificent carousel, which dates back to 1905 and is also known as the Philadelphia Toboggan Company Carousel #6 or as the Kit Carson County Carousel. Next we meet 93-year-old Faye Brown, who continues to keep herself busy ranching; then we have the rare chance to see a rotary snowplow clearing railroad tracks, and to meet the crew members who keep the steam-powered train operating; next we go deep underground to see how the Yale Marble Company mines marble, which has been used around the world, including at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Lincoln Memorial. We watch the painstaking restoration of stained glass windows that are over 100-years old at the Temple Event Center; reminisce about old-time photography with Glenn Aultman; then discover the efforts it takes to restore formerly deserted mines and ghost towns.
